The King

Yul Brenner plays his role as the King with such amazing perfection it rather thrills me. His movement, posturing, voice intonation and every slight expression is priceless.
Enjoy:

Madly in love with this overture. Also this sequence, costumes and facial expressions. But mostly unbelievable overture.

and this won't embed, but this is the classic and wonderful "Shall We Dance" that is perfectly delightful!

Girl of the Moment

Meet Hailee Steinfeld, famous for True Grit, which I haven't seen, and don't intend to see, because I hated the original. And...because I don't think I could bear to see Matt Damon look so unattractive.

Anyway, even though I havent seen the film, I've seen her red carpet appearances, like I featured on the Golden Globes. This 14 year old has got some style class! Its youthful and modest, but fun and fashionable. Definitely my favorite Girl Of the Moment!

First of all, she is perfectly cute:

Second, her red carpet choices have been completely refreshing:

^her most recent sashay down the red carpet in Prada at the SAG awards

^ the Prabal Gurung I've already gotten excited over

Third, her True Grit premieres were all young and she smiled at every photo (go away, Taylor Momsen):

Now she has an Oscar nomination...can't wait to see what else blooms for this little beauty!

Golden Globes roundup

The Golden Globes was all-around one of my favorite red carpet events I've seen in a long time. This gives me hope for an exicting fashion year 2011!
Trends:

Minimalism

Both Hailee and Emma choose solid color, straightforward dresses. What worked was their clean cut elegance, and perfect fits. I personally love both of them:
This is from Prabal Gurung:

Emma Stone's dress is, not surprisingly, Calvin Klein:

Green

This Monique Lhuillier puts Catherine Zeta-Jones back in her glory zone for me. Lately she's been looking old and tired, but she's radiant tonight!

I was so excited about Angelina's Versace I didn't even know what to do with myself. Angie not wearing black! It was absolutely delightful, and of course she looked stunning.

Mila Kunis is not my favorite on the red carpet, I think she usually looks smug and flat. But this dress just fit her so perfectly!

Demure
Several of these usually fashion forward ladies chose a more femine, soft look, that I think worked really well.

Especially for Leighten Meester, I think this Burburry dress is gorgeous on her:

And...I don't know who she is, or who her dress is, but I just thought she looked pretty, so hey;

Oliva Wilde just looked spectacular. This dress couldn't possibly be made to look better!

And Helena Bonham Carter, God love her! THis Vivianne Westwood dress is just as loony and lovable as she is. I highly enjoyed her playfulness:

Who wore your favorite Golden Globe dress?

Angelina Jolie
Olivia Wilde
Catherine Zeta-Jones

Unlimited.

I had the indescribable pleasure of actually watching this play on broadway. I cannot tell you what it did to me. I believe this is one of the best songs ever written or performed. It gives me chills every time. Its okay if it doesn't effect you in the same way...there's something about musical theater that does weird things to my emotions.

That is the original version with Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenowith. Nobody can sing like Idina. But if you did enjoy that, there's so many clips and videos of the play on youtube...its easy to spend hours comparing different versions.

in my dreams...

...i look like her.

continues her musical obsession...

This is from the Spring Awakening, the original Broadway version. It is sung by Lea Michele (yes, she was on Broadway before Glee).
