Because there's just too much ugliness.

I talked to the characters and answered YES! to lots of what they were asking eachother....

I watched this horrible movie with cowboys and dust and snakes eating cowboys in a dusty river and I was too disgusted to go to bed, so I watched this scene to quiet my soul.
It performed the quieting task so marvelously I thought it might do the trick for other souls needing quieting.

And the royals are not all lost to the past...

Our lovely image of the day comes to us from Sweden, where the Crown Princess Victoria is celebrating her marriage to Daniel Westling.
Fanning her gown on the red carpet...such a gentleman!
Love his Dashing Librarian sorta look, its great to see the Princess look so happy. I hope things are just as beautiful for them in life as the wedding appeared to be. Unfortunately, did not love her wedding gown from the front, but the back is impressive, and you can get a sense of the pomp and circumstance.

Positive Rebellion

Those who say breaking all rules is good are foolish. Rules allow life to be lived. Rules improve our comfort level, our abilities, create space and possibilities where there was jumble.

However, some rules are useless. Or they are subject to successful breakage.

My example:

Everyone knows suit jackets and button-ups are to be worn with nice pants. But here we have a man laughing in the face of rules and proving them wrong. He looks so perfectly marvelously confident and impeccably dressed in his camo shorts.
Now, do notice he didn't break all rules: he is in good shape, well groomed and shaved, the clothes fit correctly and (maybe most importantly for this to look good) his posture is very erect and straightforward.

This lovely gentleman impressed me and gave me something to think about. I hope it is mutual.

Runway Resort 2011

Ahh, Resort season in the fashion world. Those summery, kinda-realistic styles that you can ALMOST imagine the cool girls wearing on warm nights in the cities.

Here's a few highlights:

This is something I'd generally hate, but Abbey Lee looks so peacefully beachy I'm crazy about it:

(that was curtesy of Chanel, you really should go through the whole lookbook, it changes styles several times while keeping the same relaxed feel, Lagerfeld is master.)

Tibi goes for some fresh colors:

Rag and Bone tries some edgy summer dresses:

Yves St. Laurent and the best summer ruffles I've seen;

Dior went really Barbie, which usually I love, but this time left me a bit cold:

Chris Benz, something striking:

Oscar De La Renta, something classy with a bit of fun:

DKNY, really I only put this cuz I love the styling of the hair and makeup:

My favorite!

Can't tell you how many times i've watched this movie, I just know I'm never tired of it.
And I don't show you her in these scenes, but it stars the breathtaking Grace Kelly. Go watch High Society!

I think I'm the only person who'll love this...

...but that's because I get it.

Laugh, farm kids!!

Change

The Transformation of Kelly Osbourne

With parents like Ozzy and Sharon, you can't blame the girl for being screwy. But today, I would like to celebrate her freedom from screwiness.

Kelly of the '90's and early 2000's just wanted to be a rebel. In public, she was a sloppy loudmouth. It didn't look so good:

her hair and makeup was disgusting, maybe to match her attitude:

But something began to change around 2006. I say it's because she got a boyfriend, model Luke Worrall, who really cared. I don't know, I haven't asked her, I just know she started smiling in her photos:

Her next step toward improvement was getting rid of the gobby-scary makeup of her punky past. It did wonders to her face, though her hair was still in need of assistance.

Although Kelly's hair cut and color was still troubled, all of a sudden, she started showing up places in really adorable dresses. This is when I started to notice her.

And, around 2008, she suddenly lost a LOT of weight:

A body like that would give any girl dramatically improved confidence, and Kelly suddenly got stylish:

her cute, quirky looks led her to even model for Betsey Johnson, and start being a front-row attender of fashion shows. She even started to figure out what to do with her hair!

Wisely, she kept the faithful Luke, who just recently became her fiancee:

And that takes us to the Kelly of today. Take a look:

Okay, well, maybe not everyone is going to love the violet hair, but I do. I think its excactly the fun, stand out, classy little vintage girl she's turned out to be. I'm so happy with her!

Brilliant, Kelly, brilliant!
Will totally be keeping up with this girl as she (hopefully!) continues to thrive.

Super Corny Happily Ever Afters

As the Queen of Cheesy, I love the movie Enchanted. And along with Enchanted came this musiv video by Carrie Underwood.
I haven't thought about it in such a long time and when I went to watch it i thought it was as cute as I remembered.

Plus, Carrie Underwood has to be one of the most gorgeous women on the planet. its lovely just to look at her!
