Add a cute voice and pleasant song:

Finally, insert unbelievably attractive, creative, and talented dream man.....

And there you have Vanessa Paradis' charmed life.
Delightful!

Oscars!!

Well, it was a pretty....pretty....and safe red carpet. Which makes for BORING!
Nothing was horrible, but nothing was jaw dropping, with the possible exception of this stunning beauty:

On the runway, I hated this dress, but Cate Blanchett has made something phenomenal of, and I don't even like Cate Blanchett!

After that, here were the best of the bland:
Camila's full skirt just worked really well, and Mathew looked appropriately proud of her:

Amy Adam's has been climbing back up to beautiful since a recent red carpet slump, and this blue works well for her:

My little love Hailee sketched this dress herself, and Marchesa made her dreams come true. No surprise, it's adorable:

Rounding out my favorites was Mila Kunis' Elie Saab, in a graceful pale violet. It works beautifully with her coloring:

credit to Celine Dion, Jennifer Connelly, and Jennifer Hudson for looking good, but just not quite fabulous enough.

Anyone I'm missing?r

Obsessed with this song right now, it is exactly what I feel like. Sorry I can't embed the video- I promise its worth your time to click on the link!

kind of adorable in an obnoxious way

My sister is in love with this band. I just think they're kinda cutely pathetic.

Grammy 2011 recap

Fashion

Natasha Bedingfeld isn't stunning here, but this is my favorite I've ever seen her, this dress is really pretty, so kudos:

and keri Hilson's Basil Soda looks properly sassy. Again, not usually my style, but it works well for her:

I think this might be the first time I've featured Nicole Kidman, she looks classy and fresh:

and Rhianna's Jean Paul Gaultier is ridiculous and scandalous, but you can't say she didn't wear it with complete power!

Performances

So I missed the actual show, and only saw clips on Youtube, unfortunately. If saw a spectacular peformance I overlooked, just let me know!

I actually loved Lady Gaga's performance, but I feel a little guilty about posting it here, so we'll go with these:

For the biggest diva contest:

For the best perfomance of the night:

For the best representation of the lights, sets, dance and pizazz(plus the cutest thing ever= Will and Jada's proud faces)

couture week #1

Have to admit so far I've been a little dissappointed with Spring 2011 Couture. But there's more coming that I'm excited about, so I'll withhold final judgements.
First round highlights:
Chanel had a rather bleak show, but the detailing was beautiful:

Armani Prive chose to use some gorgeous jewel colors, but I wasn't too fond of many of their shapes.

I do think this is crazy cool, though:

Of course, Dior caught me as usual with their extravagant swooshy skirts. These weren't the best I've seen from Mr. Galliano, but still had that posh flair I love:

More to come from couture, and also the Grammys!!

90s!

I rarely remember, but some good things did come out of the 90s. The haircuts, not so much. But the music...I'll go ahead and say it redeems the haircuts.
For some reason I'm a big softie for this circus video. Not even sure why.

Don't hate.
I have a feeling I posted this once before, a long time ago, but I'm just loving it so you can enjoy it again!

Superbowl Recap

So, I was hoping to be able to present you with an amazing halftime show for my lovely moment, but that isn't going to happen. Oh well.
Instead, I present you with what everyone watches the Superbowl for: the commercials!

Here are the commercials, in order of rating. My personal favorite is #3, the little Darth Vader.

Hope this at least brings a smile!

Our Own Pretty Ways

this is First Aid Kit. Two sisters from Sweden. They're kind of rough and unpracticed. But I happen to love it.
And if you happen to love it, too, you can download their whole live EP for free here:

Your Daily Bit of Do Good

I found this website through my sister. You answer quiz questions in your chosen category to win grains of rice, which the site then donates to feed the hungry.

Its addicting, educational, and you feel like your changing the world a bit. I've been playing on the vocabulary level, but I can't wait to try the art level, which shows you pictures and asks you to guess the painter.

On my first try I got to level 35 on the vocabulary before I guessed wrong. Not bad, but I think you can top it.

Have fun!

The King

Yul Brenner plays his role as the King with such amazing perfection it rather thrills me. His movement, posturing, voice intonation and every slight expression is priceless.
Enjoy:

Madly in love with this overture. Also this sequence, costumes and facial expressions. But mostly unbelievable overture.

and this won't embed, but this is the classic and wonderful "Shall We Dance" that is perfectly delightful!

Girl of the Moment

Meet Hailee Steinfeld, famous for True Grit, which I haven't seen, and don't intend to see, because I hated the original. And...because I don't think I could bear to see Matt Damon look so unattractive.

Anyway, even though I havent seen the film, I've seen her red carpet appearances, like I featured on the Golden Globes. This 14 year old has got some style class! Its youthful and modest, but fun and fashionable. Definitely my favorite Girl Of the Moment!

First of all, she is perfectly cute:

Second, her red carpet choices have been completely refreshing:

^her most recent sashay down the red carpet in Prada at the SAG awards

^ the Prabal Gurung I've already gotten excited over

Third, her True Grit premieres were all young and she smiled at every photo (go away, Taylor Momsen):

Now she has an Oscar nomination...can't wait to see what else blooms for this little beauty!

Golden Globes roundup

The Golden Globes was all-around one of my favorite red carpet events I've seen in a long time. This gives me hope for an exicting fashion year 2011!
Trends:

Minimalism

Both Hailee and Emma choose solid color, straightforward dresses. What worked was their clean cut elegance, and perfect fits. I personally love both of them:
This is from Prabal Gurung:

Emma Stone's dress is, not surprisingly, Calvin Klein:

Green

This Monique Lhuillier puts Catherine Zeta-Jones back in her glory zone for me. Lately she's been looking old and tired, but she's radiant tonight!

I was so excited about Angelina's Versace I didn't even know what to do with myself. Angie not wearing black! It was absolutely delightful, and of course she looked stunning.

Mila Kunis is not my favorite on the red carpet, I think she usually looks smug and flat. But this dress just fit her so perfectly!

Demure
Several of these usually fashion forward ladies chose a more femine, soft look, that I think worked really well.

Especially for Leighten Meester, I think this Burburry dress is gorgeous on her:

And...I don't know who she is, or who her dress is, but I just thought she looked pretty, so hey;

Oliva Wilde just looked spectacular. This dress couldn't possibly be made to look better!

And Helena Bonham Carter, God love her! THis Vivianne Westwood dress is just as loony and lovable as she is. I highly enjoyed her playfulness:

Who wore your favorite Golden Globe dress?

Angelina Jolie
Olivia Wilde
Catherine Zeta-Jones
Emma Stone
Leighten Meester
You missed my favorite!
